So I looked at my character sheet and realized that all of my skills are expressed as percentages, which only confused me more. So then I began to wonder if my skills in different magic schools maybe affected the chance to cast a spell. But can that be right? Because it seems like I would need to spend a LOT of money and spell points to make a spell that succeeds even 20% of the time. Reading the Daggerfall manual, it seems that Chance is just a percentage: so that (1 to 1) + (1 to 1 per every 1 level) comes out to a 2% chance at level 1, 3% at level 2, etc. I managed to figure out Duration and Magnitude on my own, but I'm still somewhat baffled by Chance. Upon using the spellmaker for the first time, I was mystified by the Duration, Chance, and Magnitude options. They recommend making spells over buying them. If dungeons only get more complex from here, I am going to be a very happy player.Д«ut then I arrived at the Mage's Guild portion of the guide and got tripped up. Luckily, I found the beginner's guide found UESP ( ) and have managed to make my way out of the first dungeon. But my TES experience is pretty limited (Morrowind and Skyrim), so I've needed extra help to get started.
