I updated it using SCT's software before hooking it up to the truck, then after attaching the device to the truck for it to figure out what I was driving, came back in and updated the device again.

Ensure serial number is verified in info email, custom tunes will not work if ID info has a typo.ДЄfter receiving the device, I had to make a couple of trips back and forth between the truck and computer. Keep in mind: After each reset the computer has to re-learn transmission shifting behavior, causing erratic shifting. Comparing to Cobb tuner i used on another vehicle, this system is lacking. MINUS- A big pain to set up on the computer/update software/transfer tunes, with no guide book, unhelpful website, non-existant customer service (via email and web chat). Nice that x4 can correct for account for tire size changes and other parameters. Actual 1-3 mpg gains on economy tunes and truck is very quick and responsive on performance tunes. Canned and custom tunes perform as advertised. I couldn't be happer with this tuner and with stage 3. John hooked me up with my custom tunes quickly.
